Willis Family Bridge
Cross over one of Fort Wayne’s most unique architectural structures, the Willis Family Bridge. The bridge, which spans Crescent Avenue, allows those living in Student Housing to make the trek on foot or by bike to IPFW’s main campus. Only one other bridge in the United States (in Frankfort, Illinois) has a similar design. The bridge’s 246-foot length required a center support, and a pylon with cables (the triangular structure) was designed for this purpose. IPFW will soon break ground on a complementary bridge on the west side of campus that will connect the main campus with the Hefner Soccer Fields and McKay Farm by spanning St. Joseph River.
